This Can Happen Award Best Consultancy 2021 - Petros - Prof. Jo Clarke

This Can Happen is an organisation that supports employers and employees across the world to create a positive environment for good mental health in the workplace. Their services provide effective solutions, including their popular 12-month rolling Friends programmes, to support employees’ mental health – suitable for businesses of every size across the globe.

Taking place on the 24th June, 2021, This Can Happen Awards recognised and celebrated exceptional contribution to mental health support and training in the UK. The team at Petros were delighted to be awarded with Best Mental Health Consultancy, supported by case studies and testimonials from United Response and the General Medical Council (GMC). Here’s where you can find out more about Petros’s work and the other winners in the 2021 awards.

Judge’s comments in support of Petros included:

An excellent robust account of a highly effective training program – evidenced by the 85% score of employees comfortable to speak with their managers about their mental health. The longevity of the relationship demonstrates the trust and impact felt by the client toward Petros.

Strong tangible evidence of effectiveness and impact, which is recognised in the partnerships with key insurers. Interesting blend of clinical, theory and practice.

A forensic psychologist, Jo Clarke spent 23 years working in prisons. Her work with offenders led her to shift focus and explore criminal justice staff’s exposure to trauma for her PhD. Later, while Director of MSc in Forensic Psychology Department at the University of York, Jo founded Petros, gathering together a highly qualified and experienced team with expertise in critical occupations, including maximum security prisons, high security psychiatric hospitals, policing and children in care.

Today, Jo and the Petros team support and deliver training to multi-nationals, blue light services, schools, families and individuals. Swiftly tailoring flexible online delivery during the COVID-19 health crisis, Petros’s wide range of mental health support includes the pioneering Decompression Sessions, MindHealth for Mangers and train the trainer programmes for self-supporting organisational training. A national and international speaker, Jo holds the UK and European licence for the Challenge of Change™ resilience programme and is the only UK accredited deliverer of Dr. Ross Greene’s Collaborative and Proactive Solutions™ model for challenging and disruptive children.

Petros’s pioneering work continues to gain commendations, including from DCS Mark Kameen, Merseyside Police:

“In genuine appreciation of your support, professionalism and commitment delivering a series of six bespoke mental health and resilience presentations to over 900 staff… you have raised our collective awareness around the critical nature of our role and how this might lead to psychological injury… how to manage this type of injury and coping mechanisms to prevent it.”

Direct results of Petros’s work led to one multi-national client’s insurance premium reducing by £1million and to Petros becoming specialist provider to QBE and Aviva insurers. Petros also continues to work with such diverse organisations as: London Zoo, Facebook, G4S, HEE, NSPCC, Girl Guiding and SSE. Petros’s profits support schools and charities.

Petros also developed Be Kind to Your Mind mental health support programme during the pandemic: an innovative online 360 degree programme supporting people’s ability to lead happy, resilient lives.
